Harness quote calculator
Count the work, not the hours: wires, crimps, seals, connectors, splices, coverings and tests become labour time from an editable operation table, then a price per quantity break.

In short
A harness price is material plus labour plus setup, then your margin. This calculator turns what you count on the drawing into labour time with a table of 55 shop operations (cut and strip, crimp, insert, tape, test …) — 52 of them are our estimates, marked as such, and every one can be replaced by your own time. Batch setup (job setup, first-article check, applicator changes, machine programs) is spread over each quantity break, so the price per piece falls as the quantity rises. One-off engineering (formboard, test program) can be shown on its own line.
Worked example
12 wires of 800 mm, 22 crimped terminals, 8 seals, 4 connectors, 1 splice with heat-shrink, 6 tape spots, 600 mm of sleeving, 4 labels, 11 test circuits, built on a formboard with a bench cut-and-strip machine and a bench crimp press; €30/h, 25 % margin, 3 % scrap: €26.43 / 10 pcs · €23.58 / 50 pcs · €23.01 / 250 pcs. One-off engineering: €56.25.
Example values, not market prices — replace them with your own.
How it works
- Labour
- Each count is multiplied by the time of its operation: for example 22 crimps × 6 s on a bench press, 22 insertions × 7 s. The time per harness, at your hourly rate, is the labour per piece.
- Setup
- Job setup, first-article inspection, label printing, one applicator change per terminal type and one machine program per wire article happen once per batch. Divided by the batch quantity, they are the setup per piece.
- Material
- Quantity per harness × your price. Scrap is added to wire and to everything bought by the metre. A price left blank is listed as missing and counts as zero, so the total is too low until you fill it.
- Price
- (material + labour + setup) per piece × (1 + margin). The margin is on cost. The engineering line (formboard and test program) is priced the same way, once.
Two simplifications against the Workspace: every wire has the average length (the Workspace uses each wire's own length), and a heat-shrink piece is up to 50 mm long.
Questions
- Where do the labour times come from?
- From Zorowire's default operation table (data/labour). Almost every time in it is our own estimate, built from the few public sources there are, and each row says so. They are a starting point: replace them with times you have measured in your shop and the price becomes yours.
- Why does the price per piece fall with quantity?
- Because setup is paid once per batch: job setup, first-article inspection, applicator changes and machine programs. At 10 pieces each harness carries a tenth of it, at 250 pieces a 250th.
- What is the one-off engineering line?
- Building the formboard and the test program for a new part number. The calculator shows it on its own line, invoiced once with the first order, instead of hiding it in the piece price; untick it if you price it differently.
- Can I send the PDF to my customer?
- Yes. It carries your shop's name, the item, the prices per quantity break and your conditions. It has no Zorowire watermark. Check the terms line: it is a placeholder for your own payment and delivery terms.
- Does it work in lei, złoty or pounds?
- Yes: EUR, RON, PLN, GBP and USD. Enter your rate and prices in that currency; the calculator only formats the result, it converts nothing.
- Is anything saved?
- No. The calculator runs in your browser; the PDF is built on our server from what you send and is not kept. Close the tab and it is gone.

Do it for real harnesses in the Workspace
Enter a harness once — connectors, wires, branch lengths — and Zorowire keeps the quote, the cut list, the 1:1 formboard, labels and the BOM in step. The Free plan needs no card.
